Cat Prints and Court Dockets

Sometimes, when working on the inventory project, you come across things you don’t expect.  Example: This 1940s era Superior Court Docket Book which is covered in paw prints from a cat.  Burning questions: When did the Courthouse have cats?  Why is it walking on my documents?  What kind of adventures has this book been on?

Groceries, Notions, Flour, and Feed in 1890

This piece of stationary was found loose in a box of Probate files.  Civil cases are a great resources to explore when searching for historical information on businesses.  Ephemera such as the piece below also give us a peak into the past, in this case specifically, into a the operations of a local grocery.  Four ounces of vanilla is only 35 cents!
